Motorcycle Tours

Dangerous Brians Motorcycle tours

Since 2005 we have organised the (now almost famous) Dangerous Brian’s motorcycle tours to France and Belgium between August and October each year.

Do not be put off by the name, it’s the pet name given to the tour guide Brian (apparently he looks a bit like Brian Conley, though others say Bill Clinton) and we make safety our priority.

A maximum of ten bikes are allowed on tour and some riders have returned year after year having become good friends.

We meet up on a Friday morning to leave South Wales, travelling cross country to Newbury, then via Bracknell M3, M25 and M20 to Dover where we catch an afternoon ferry to Calais.

First night is in Boulogne, a good hotel on the Port with secure underground parking and out for a meal in a great local restaurant with plenty of beer to slake a riding thirst.

Day two takes us along the French channel coast to a pretty little town called Honfleur, just south of Le Havre, where we spend our Saturday night at another great restaurant with our bike secure hotel within easy walking distance.

Day three is a Sunday, so not such an early start, we head North via Amiens into Belgium and to the town of Ypres. We arrive early afternoon so we can have a wander around and visit the war museum. We stay in lovely (underground bike secure) hotel just round the corner from the Menin Gate memorial and make a visit there at 8pm for the daily sounding of the last post, a very moving and crowded event as the pictures show.

Day four, Monday morning arrives and we make our way to Calais for lunch and shopping for Chocolates, French foods and of course BEER. The ferry to Dover is after lunch and our backup vehicle is converted to a large shopping basket. We all hope the bikes are ok for the journey from Dover….
