Advanced Training

What is Advanced Training?

Many people consider advanced riding is for boring people travelling around the countryside at up to exactly 55mph in total safety. Well, the safety aspect is certainly true, but the boring side could not be further from the truth. Advanced riding is about making progress safely, with a much higher enjoyment factor and at the same time guarding against the effects of fatigue.

Tell me more...

When riding to an advanced standard, not only will you be able to start exploiting the features of your machine, but more importantly you will be positioned on the correct side of the road, with the correct gear engaged, at the right speed, capable of stopping in the distance you can see to be clear. You will, by accurate observation and planning, cover the ground more quickly, although not always exceed the speed limit. Your cornering will be more accurate, and no traffic or weather condition will be likely to unsettle you. This is why Police Motor Cyclists cover such high mileages safely, often at high speed, and are considered to be the best trained riders anywhere in the world. They are the envy of many professional riders in other walks of life.

Who will give me instruction?

Fully trained and experienced Advanced Motor Cycle Instructors who are currently engaged in training riders in all aspects of on-road riding skills, based on the revised Police Motor Cycle Road craft. With years of experience in teaching from Standard through to Advanced levels, with the ability to impart knowledge in a positive and friendly manner.

What is our aim?

Our aim is to produce a rider who is fully aware of all current situations and therefore is able to plan correctly to make smooth progress under any conditions.

What are the benefits?

First and foremost as previously stated, you will be safer. Your enjoyment factor will be greater, and wear and tear on your machine will be reduced.

And?

In addition, many insurance companies are now starting to realise that those riders who have taken some advanced rider training and subsequently passed their advanced test are a better risk. This is reflected in that some companies now offer up to 27.5% reduction on their policies to advanced riders. This alone makes it a worthwhile benefit. Less importantly, you will be able to join the small elite group of riders who have subjected themselves to the test, and are proud to call themselves advanced riders.

How are we trained?

Instruction is carried out on a one-to-one or one-to-two basis and caters for various machine rider and skill levels. Information and methods are imparted with the individuals own requirements in mind. Differing levels of experience and learning curves are recognised, and accordingly a package of training is tailored to suit your needs.

What equipment is used?

Using the very latest Instructor/Student Communication Equipment, your response to situations can be constantly updated to guide you safely through the road and traffic conditions of today, enabling you to improve your riding.

Where can we practise these skills safely?

We can offer our own private former airport runway facilities away from the public roads, to improve your low speed balance, control and low/high speed banking techniques.
